Older ecu's do not have short blinks, just the str-8 ones. You are running a stock sohc ecu?

17 is the VSS speed sensor.

i am lookin right at the ECU man and i am telling you its 17 short blinks, one solid long blink and 7 short would be the VSS, this is 17 short, hell i will try to take a vid of it if i can and show you guys, the speedo works fine, never fails. That was the first thing i checked. its a stock crx Si ECU, both ECU's i have tested are CRX Si ECU's with no mods done to them and they both throw the same code......anyone?

The cable goes to the speedo. The speedo then sends a voltage signal to the ecu.
If your speedo is working while your driving and you get a CEL that would say your ecu is not getting the signal from the speedo. Meaning you have a short in the wire from the speedo tp the ecu. Make sense?

All the crx civic ecu's I have seen have the short blinks. The b series ecu (b16a b18a) all have the longer and shorter.
