So you bought new cams without knowing if they'll work with the stock valvetrain or not...

they technically WILL work with your stock valve-train, but its highly recommended that you upgrade. Because the lobes on your new cams are higher than the ones on your stockers, the valves essentially need to travel faster to rotate at the same speed they did before the cam swap. Your stock springs won't be able to fully keep up and will end up not closing fast enough, cause valve float. This will cause you to loose power, and eventually wreck stuff. Some people don't upgrade their valvetrain and never have problems, but that will mostly depend on the cams you bought, the quality of the oem valvetrain (ctr will obviously handle more than the CVCC), and their condition. Hope that helps...

This is easy info to find. First look up the coil bind on your stock valve springs. Then look at the lift on the cam. If it is very close, at or passed the coil bind then the cam will not work.

I would upgrade to at least ITR stuff, but you can run on your current set-up fine. Just watch the rpm's.

It will but it would work better with a complete head package.

im calling bs on this post, because you ask if they work with the stock valve train, then the same day you posted that you took it to the dyno and that you got them for $100

right, even if your friend was on crack and dying i dont think he would sell them for only $100

Unless you're going to dyno it, I'd say no. Pretty retarded to buy something without knowing if it will work or not.

sorry to be a thread jacker but should these cams even be used with stock b16 compression? or should we just stick with sk2 stage 1's or bc3's. or would the a's be fine with maybe a mugen h.g. or flat valves. does anybody have dyno's of these cams?

Its the ramp rate you should really be concerned with.

toda says use type R valvetrain up to 8400 but i believe the cams make power up to 8800? is it worth it to spend a lil extra cash to get those 400 extra rpms?
