Default Is it bad that the head was previously pulled?

Hello,

I hope this is a good place to ask coz you guys know a lot about fixing/rebuilding motors. I was looking at buying a car, but the mechanic suspects that the head was previously pulled, probably due to fixing something, not due to upgrades. It's a NA car. It appears to drive fine, but I was wondering if this could lead to future reliability problems, and if there is any way that I can find out if the "repair" was done well or not. Thanks.
