Cutting valve cover?
Any advice on cutting a valve cover? (I want to expose my new buddy club cam gears for tuning and the Bling factor)
I plan on taking mine off to bring to a machine shop but I was wondering about the seal that goes around the cover. Do I have to cut that as well?

it looks like the valve cover gasket only covers the part of the head up to the gam gears... so it shouldn't have to be cut!
is it really a good idea to take the entire timing belt cover off (even the bottom bart)?

I used a dremel to score the edges where I wanted cut, then a pair of plyers and it snapped right off....
Outlined with a marker and then cut...

Btw...the valve cover gasket does not need to be touched....

I have seen people chop off the entire end, but then you expose the bet to everything, and if you are working on the car while the engine is running you have one more risk. I like the "moon" cut out, it looks very clean

In my opinion, it's not a good idea to cut the valve cover at all, but if you're absolutely set on doing it, I'd suggest removing as little of it as possible.

I agree totally, what if a stone or some debris were to hop up off the road and get caught up in the belt? Bang, stop, bendy valves, head off + lotsa money spent.

Exactly what I would recommend.
