So I got my OBX LSD in today. The guy said he couldn't get the ring gear off so he left it on. (extra ring gear for me
) I think he couldn't get it off because he went a turned every single bolt the wrong way.
So anyhow, it seems that mostly just the bolts stripped off. Does anyone know the tap size, thread pitch, ext. for these bolts? I'd like to see if I can get a clean thread out of this LSD yet.
Any other recommendations?
Yes all of the hex head bolts were loose. Some not even hand tight. This is why you check parts before installing.

If I remember correctly, it's reverse threads and it was a pita to find the correct tap for it. Ended up ordering one online. I'll try to find where from agian.

It is reverse threads and guess it isn't standard metric threading either.
You did this before though? Work out alright?

Does 10-24 or 10-32 sound right? Can someone count the threads on a B series ring gear bolt for me? The whole thing head to tip.
I dont have an answer for the thread pitch for you, I did look but couldnt find any of those diff bolts. But, a secret to get them out without destroying the bolt or ring gear is to heat the bolts up with a torch......gets them out so you can re-use them
i just bought a tap from mcmaster carr.
here is the info.
part number 2656A372
metric LEFT HAND THREAD 10x1.0mm
cost - 82.23 shipped to my door.
