Default OIL PAN HELP: QUICKLY

the threads in my oil drain plug are stripped, its leaking oil like a champ, and i have to go out of town in 3 days.i have to work every day until then. what are my options? can you get an oversized bolt to put in there, is it some kind of special bolt? is it easy to rethread? thanks to all help, and any help at all would be appreciated

btw, its a 98 accord 4cyl coupe, thanks

remove pan plug, they sell inserts u need 14.5 mm drill pan, put insert in and new plug it works like a champ i have done too many to keep count

i got the kit from MATCO tools, i dont know wether autozone , checker, pep boys napa sell it .. .sears?????

Yep, oversized drain plugs are great. Just crank them in, no drilling or tapping needed.

yo Chio those things dont last long at all and after a few oil changes they leak again ,,if you want to fix it properly and not worry about a leak everytime you change oil you got to put an insert in fix it right the first time and forget about it

Never had a problem with the oversize plugs, inserts are another story though. They always get stuck to the plug.

not if you countersink them ..i have install a **** load and never had 1 come aprt with plug ..like i said there is a kit that makes the job real good you do it once and forget kit comes with drill bit , tap, inserts , countersinker tool and locktite to put on insert threads before you install it

well, today i went with an oversized plug, i dont know what the threads are gonna do, so next time i do an oil change, i may have a backup oil pan. but thanks everyone, i was freakin out

do not waste the money on a oil pan just put an insert in so much cheaper and they last ,,,,,,,,,,,,, have a shop do it ..

I've been using an OS drain bolt with OEM drain bolt crush washers for about 4 years now, no leaks. You have to thread the washer onto the bigger plug carefully without damaging it, but it fits. Most of the times I've seen OS drain bolts leak is when people neglect to use some sort of crush washer.
