Default Ls/vtec rebuild.....Questions about pistons

After only 1000 miles, my newly build LS-vtec is broke. Dissasembled and found abnormallity (crack or just a LARGE scratch) in the piston with my cyl walls scarred up. I am planning on boring to 82mm but I am having issues finding 82mm Pistons. I looked at JE, CP, Aries and Wiseco and the only 82mm pistons I found was Wiseco. Has anyone put forged pistons in your LSvtec build? Just looking for advice on what has worked. I previously used Topline 81.5mm pr3 pistons. This will be a non-turbo build, but I would like to use a little nitrous this time around. Thanks
Drew

Default Re: Ls/vtec rebuild.....Questions about pistons (LSvtec delsol)

wiseco has some really good pistons I like the quality of their workmanship. I've never heard of topline before and that might be why your cylinderwalls were scored. Could also be that you were running your motor too lean. Good luck with the next set of pistons u get.
