Did a compression test on my 90 LS today. I have just a few questions.
Well earlier today i was fixing my timing since the guy before me thought it'd be cool to advance the timing as far as he could go. So i fixed that and i looked at my coolant resevoir and i had no coolant in there.
That got me thinking why was i missing it? So i put some more in and pressed on the pedal and looked out the exhaust for any smoke, and there was a little white smoke coming out (burning coolant right?) I figured i better do a compression test to make sure i was ok. Here are the results:
Cylinder #1 175
Cylinder #2 185
Cylinder #3 180
Cylinder #4 190
Do these results sound ok? My car has 206K miles on it. Roughly 150k on the engine, what the original owner said it was. What would cause me to be burning the coolant though?
Also i didn't hold the gas to WOT, the guy that helped me said it was unnessary to do so. Thanks for the help in advance guys.

Those #s look good to me, there isn't a big difference between any of them.
The white smoke could be water in your engine, which would indicate that your headgasket is going.

Any ways of prolonging it? I am hoping to get a new car in spring time and just want the car to make it till then.

that's also why you're burning coolant. mine was running low on coolant but it wasn't the headgasket. a guy at a honda shop down the road warned me it might be my headgasket before i fixed it.
to check the headgasket do this:
when the engine is cold squeeze the upper radiator hose. if it is soft, your golden, if it's hard as a rock that means your cooling system built up pressure. next (while the engine is still cold) unscrew the radiator cap. start the car and rev it. if radiator fluid shoots out of it, that probably means your headgasket's gone. if no on both of em. check something else.
it may also be a leak in the water pump if you put more in and keep losing it. i found this out the hard way. good luck with everything.
