August 28th NOPI ATCO, anybody rent a HANS device?
Hi I have a proposition for all the guys selling safety stuff on here...
Have a few HANS (or equivalent) on hand at the NOPI events. I dont know if it is enforced yet but rules say 9.50 down Sportsman and all Pro classes need one.
Some friends of mine from P.R. with a VW Rabbit have their car in nj, and would like to make this event before they go back. The cost of the HANS will put them over the edge.
Also for myself having to purchase one will put a serious dent in my plans to quit after this season, lol.

He'll be at the race and i'm sure he'll be willing to help in some kind of way considering he his a fellow islander.

The head an neck restraints as well as engine diapers are currently all mandatory on any car 9.50 and faster. You would be surprised at all the racers who now have the devices even though they are'nt running fast enough to be required to.

why would they need one if they havent run faster then 9.50 yet?

Because the crash that killed St. Earnhardt was the equivalent of about a 35mph head-on...
We've got an article on the HANS in the September issue that should be out at the beginning of next week. It was enlightening to learn just how slow you can be going and still generate g-forces high enough to tear the back of your brain stem loose.
