Default Gen. 1 DSM BOV

I have a Greddy kit on a sohc '99, and i put a gen 1 dsm bov on. The setup is for 5-6lbs of boost, and I'm not hearing any Pshhht sound that is common with any or other makes of bov's. It makes a fluttering sound, but it is definitely not coming from the bov. Before, it only used to make a whining sound when i'd let off the gas, but i had it crushed and it took away that annoying sound. But I'm still not hearing any pssht sound. I'm worried that my bov isn't doing its job, and the compressed air is going back through the piping, and will eventually blow up my turbo.
Any thoughts?

Try another blow off valve, or take it to the dyno.
