constant CEL when checking error codes?
I jumped the plug on the car like the faq instructs me to, turned the car to on and im getting a constant CEL. I let it sit for almost a minute and the light didnt start to blink or even turn off. does this mean my ECU is fried? i checked the faq and it didnt say anything about this and i searched as well.
any one ever experience this before?
the car is a 93 civic si
thanks.

Does the car run, or just spin over but not start?
Have you checked all of the under hood and under dash fuses? Namely the ECU fuse under hood, and the ACGS fuse under the dash?
Usually a constant CEL means a bad ground, bad fuse somewhere, or possibly a bad ECU.

so when u are tring to jump the plug the light doesnt blink correct???
if so what are you using to jump the plug?
I had a similar problem where i was using a paper clip at first and it would flash with that
If your using a wire try to get a few different types of wire guages cause sometimes it doesnt pick up the signal unless you use a certain type of wire

You know what is a great investment and something I think every honda owner should buy? A PDA and the honda diagnostic program and plug. You will never have to deal with blinking lights EVER again.

Yeah it sounds to me like the ECU fuse under the hood may be missing/blown, etc.
Has anyone worked on the car just prior to it messing up on you?

That means there are no trouble codes stored.

In the underhood fusebox it is the 15 amp fuse in the corner closest to where the windshield and the right fender meet.
Is the fusebox sticker missing on your lid? It tells which fuses are what.

on mine the ecu was bad when it flashed like that. I don't really understand how one can just got bad but I guess anything is possible. Honda had extended the emmisions warranty on mine to 10 yrs / 150,000 miles and it was 138,000 when it went bad. They replaced it for free and they told me the cost of the new one and I think it was $700. So if I had to pay that much I'm pretty sure I would've put that towards a swap and got rid of the y5.
oh btw mine ran fine with the cel on, they reset the light when I first went there and ordered the ecu, of course it came back on and I think it was a week till they got the new one. The car ran fine and didn't seem to be running in safe mode or anything, then when I took it back to get fixed it took them 5 min. and I was on my way.

That sounds like a blown fuse.
I have a problem where every couple of times I drive my car it throws a check light. If I turn off the car the light won't come back on. Not to mention its not storing the CEL, so I have no idea what the problem is.
