How to fix a backfire?
I recently got my car back from having my tranny swapped from an AT to a MT. When I was driving it, it would backfire pretty bad out of 1st gear. Now, I'm not sure but it sounded like there were several other small ones but I wasn't sure because I couldn't really hear much over my exhaust.
My question is? How do I fix this? I'm yet to do anything, I'm thinking seafoaming my engine and changing my oil.

Oil has nothing to do with a back fire, its gunna be timing, fuel/air and spark, check your plugs, wires, cap rotor, dizzy, all that little ****, mine backfire a couple times, i had toasted *** plugs and put some new plugs in and fixed the lil problem

Okay, I don't see how my timing could be affected since I've done nothing with it at all. I changed my plugs probably 15k ago, they should be good but I have no idea since I haven't checked anything yet.

Only a couple things cause backfire: Too much cam, too much fuel or spark plugs in the wrong order. I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you that your problem is of the third catagory. It's a common issue - especially since many books on our cars show the diagram incorrectly - but a simple one to fix.

Yes, I did have a half tank of gas that was sitting my car for almost 8 months, when I got it back last Friday I drove it and used all that gas and got a new half tank. I changed my spark plugs not less than 15k ago but yeah I will check all of them. And I know my wires need to get replaced as well.
Thanks guys!!
