400-500 Horse power?

Manual can't always handel the extra power, clutch will slip.

Many high end horse power drag cars use automatics, its big with Supras, Camaros, 'Vettes ect. It provides better consistance and some say they hold up better then a manual because the power would eat up the clutches to quickly. Search DSMTuners for a very very long thread on Auto-VS-Manual, lots of great info, good amount of speculation and some bs. You can buy and upgrade autmatic transmissions for DSMs, I'm sure something exists for the Acura.

If you do go major horse power, replace your fluids religously.

the ****'s an automanual? Stop being a poser and just say automatic. You're not fooling anyone.

And go for show mods, go mods on an auto rsx is a waste of time unless you get the comptech base supercharger.

i think he's referring to the "sport shift", but whatever, the car is still auto.

and personally, if i had an auto rsx, i'd probably just focus on show mods. maybe do some basic i/e stuff, but i'd leave it at that.

</TD></TR></TABLE>I know what he's referring to. It just peeves me when auto drivers try to say they're almost the same thing as manual drivers because they have tiptronic. Tiptronic ain't **** buddy. Just call it what it is, an automatic. You bought, you're too lazy to learn stick.....deal with it. Don't make it into something it's not.

I feel this way about base rsx's with Type-S decals and Type-S with Type-R decals. Don't be a poser.

the "type-s" or "type-r" badges on a car that is not just that is sooooo wrong, it's almost not funny. well, maybe just a little funny.

Cybernation makes a turbo kit that will work with the base auto. The tranny can take it to some extent, but you should add like a tranny cooler fluid (i forget what the correct term for it is).

With I/H/E you'll as fast as a manual, which is not saying much. Its a lot of money to spend. Later this year Comptech is releasing the supercharger for the base, finally . They will have an application for the auto. So you may want to wait for that, since it'll be much more reliable then a turbo.

If your not gonna go big I wouldnt do anything at all as far as performance. Just lower it with a good suspension setup, get some nice wheels, tint, and a nice stereo. You got yourself a nice cruiser.

Now what is your opinion of transmissions like DSG, SMG and SMG II?

Paddles are nice and they're faster than traditional H-way gearboxes, and some say they feel better on the road but I'm hard headed. That's why if I get an M3 it'll be a e46 and not a e91 which is rumored to only come in SMG. I probably wouldn't get a M6 either, just a 645 with a traditional manual gearbox. SMG, DSG are not tiptronic. Tiptronic IS automatic. It's not that I hate tiptronic or automatics.....I just hate it when people that drive an auto car with tiptronic and say well it's almost the same thing....blah blah....real cars have 3 pedals bitch.

First of all. You have an automatic. No need to say automanual gibberish. Well, the base rsx basically sucks because you are stuck with the a3 motor. And plus, it's autmatic which means it sucks even more... SOOO...

Your best bet is to go forced induction. I'm not quite sure if the supercharger is out yet for comptech base yet so might you wanna check that. Definitely go forced induction though if you want power. If you're going to stay naturally aspirated, you are wasting your money and will get owned in the street everytime. Forced Induction.... go!

Um... acura has the most responsive tiptronic shifter i've ever driven, if i ever need an auto DD my money would go towards an acura auto RSX, auto TSX etc.

i had a base automatic, i turbo charged it, 10psi daily. weeeeeeeeeeeeeee, anymore than that and u're tranny will blow. Totalled that car though. Now i have a black dc5 that is turboed, with mugen kit, shot that for 2 mags and now that's gone too. Onto third project!

there are two choices, base supercharger that i dont even know if its out yet, or the stage 1 kit from CN.

Engine mods eh? Hmmm, Type R valve cover and Mugen oil cap maybe?

Sorry, just being a wiseass.

Just go ahead and mod your car to within an inch of it's life if it suits you... so long as you're doing it for the pure fun of it, not to kill STi's.

Modding a base auto is like whacking off, not going anyplace but sure is fun getting there.
