ITR looks jacked up on 16" JDM wheels
I just put them on today , JDM ITR 16" CW with 205/50/16 rubber that came with them. The car looks hella jacked, has anyone owned these wheels without lowering their cars? I'm guessing it'll look better when i get it lowered, I'm assuming in japan they come with a different suspension set for the 16s to make them look lower because my car just looks like jacked up and I don't like the way it looks at all. but who knows maybe it's just me, but everyone who's seen it knows what I mean. If my camera was working i'd take pics.
I have 16x7 wheels, (not the JDM wheels though but same size) with 205/50-16 tires on my ITR and it does not look like a 4x4 on stock suspension, sure it would look nicer if lowered 1" but it's ok.
Here's a pic of what my R looks like on the setup mentioned :

I don't think it's "jacked up" looking at all. I think the stock suspension is a great ride height with the JDM/215-45-16's.

No it's not, they have 2% larger dia. than 215/45-16 so fits very well. I have also had 205/45-16 on my R and they are a bit on the small side, unfortunately for me 215/45-16 tires are hard to get here so I settled on 205/50 as the best alternative.

hrm, well I don't know. the car was going to get a drop anyways, but everyone who saw it yesterday mentioned whats up with the new wheels, makes your car look like its a 4x4.
Maybe it's the tire profile look thats different who knows?
Pondus, I have the same tire size as you but my car's height/look is definitely different then what you posted.

nope.
nope.
then its gotta be the tire profile or something. i have no clue.
i'm going to see if i can trade these wheels with other ones with different tires from the guy I got it from, he had a few sets. buying new tires would be an option but that'd run me $700 min? and I'd be unable to sell the tires on these rims here i don't think.
They don't even have DOT written on them, which might be a problem to sell maybe.

My tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 if that counts for something, there may be slight variations between different tires but not too much, what tires do you have btw?

I thought I was perfectly clear.
Your tires are over a half inch taller than the stock US ITR size, and almost a half inch taller than the jdm itr size. It's a bigger, taller tire - it's going to look a bit odd.

I bet if you put the correct size tires on you will like the look.
and I'll say this again. Wrong size rubber. Pretty simple, 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 inch IS a difference.

Those are also bigger than the stock size. Not by much.
But we are used to seeing cars with 205/50/15 and 195/55/15. 205/50 is smaller than 195/55. and you're talking about a tire that is 0.6" taller.
I don't know what you expected by putting a 24" tire on the R. A little bit more sidewall makes tires look WAY bigger.
So if you think the car looks higher - it is. 215/45/16 will look much better and 205/40/16 will also. 'cept a 40 sidewall will probably give you a shitty ride

I also had trouble getting 215/45/16s so in the end up went with 205/45/16s which are dirt cheap and plentiful

Jesus. You guys just drive me up the wall sometimes.
The best bet overall will be 215-45-16. It's an OEM size and provides a very nice compromise between cost and tread on the ground, and your speedometer gearing will be very close to what it should be. You can get the very grippy Hankook RS2 in that size.
If you would like to provide for adverse weather conditions, you might want to think about Falken Ziex 512's in 225-40-16. Your speedo will be off by a little bit more, but on the safe side (your indicated speed will be very slightly faster than your actual speed).
Remember that you're getting close to the end of the temperate season in Ontario.
