Default Help me decide on a header

I just can't decide between the power ground clearance crossmemeber clearance witht the headers. i have a b16 in a 91 civic. only "mods"so far basiacly just a crappy intake tube with k & n and a 2.5 exhaust...no cat. My future plans r to have my heads ported and polished, a valve job and milled and run buddy club 3 cams. Iam running obd0 so i know i have to drill and weld two o2 bungs somewhat close to the head. The headers ive been looking at since iam a broke college stundent are the edelbrock 4-2-1 mod to 2.5 collector, DC jdm 4-1, JDM ITR, or the vibrant j-spec. Also would it be worth it to save up for a smsp production header, spark's racing header, or RMF. would any of these headers clear the stock cross member? i know the 4-1's won't but what about the others? Thanks for your guys help

Personally i'd save for the Sparks Racing header. Its a knockoff of the SMSP so its a solid design but its half the price of the SMSP and it made more HP than a Hytech which is also double the price. Some good links for dyno results in this thread. Thats my choice.

Convert to OBD1... and consider an AN-R header.

I ordered an AN-R last week, I'll report on it when it arrives. $530 shipped isn't the cheapest, but everyone that has one loves it. Also, it merges into a single 2.5" pipe before it runs under the motor, for more ground clearance, which me likey.

Do you have a stock front x-member? I'd like to see the clearance.

Yes, I do have a stock crossmember, and I'm interested to see how much I'll have to remove (if any). Pictures will abound...

Every header is a custom hand job (Deuce Bigalow rules) so you can probably tell them what you have and they'll size it for the motor. I'm no expert here, but I believe it was designed for B18s, so you might not see as much low end gains on a B16. I would bet that you'll still see power most everywhere over the stock pile of a manifold. You may even be able to have them weld in the O2 bungs. I would send them an email and see what they have to say.

If I had the $$$ custom for sure.

Off the shelf consider the comptech, toda, and not very talked about but the vision header which is the exact header that spoon uses but cheaper under the vision name.

go to http://www.streetimports.com (maybe its street-imports.com) and order the ITR replica header. The black one is like 160 plus you get a 20 discount for being a HT member. They have 2.5" collectors and are identical replicas.

^ can I ask what that has to do with anything being canadian? This is the best deal on a 4-1 I have yet to see especially 1 with a 2.5" collector.
