Default LS/B20 VTEC question

I'm thinkin about doin ls vtec or b20 vtec and i'm wondering would i lose/gain anything with using a b16 crank? i've heard of people using gsr cranks but besides the stroke, being the difference, does anyone think that there is a hp/tq difference between the two cranks?

If u used a b16 crank wouldnt u be de-stroking ur engine to a 1.6 instead of a 1.8?

i'm still fairly new to all this, not so new im clueless, but new to where, i dont know what to do? lol does that make sense? the reason why i ask is because i received a free bare b20, so im lookin for ways to save some money, a friend told me today that he thinks that the displacement is in the bore not the stroke? so NO, DO NOT use a b16 crank? ONLY use a b18 or b20 crank?

cant use the b16 crank, deck height is diff. Use the gsr, type r (87.2mm) or the b20/ls crank (89mm), or something aftermarket.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by bo0st lee &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">a friend told me today that he thinks that the displacement is in the bore not the stroke? so NO, DO NOT use a b16 crank? Oh yeah, the displacement includes the bore AND stroke. So the gsr, type r crank in an 84mm bore is something like 1.9l and the 89mm is closer to 2.0.
