fuel gauge goes down fast and hesitates on full throttle?

fuel gauge goes down fast and hesitates on full throttle?
ok heres the story
when the fuel guage is just under half full,
the full gauge goes down heaps fast when on full throttle. fuel guage points to E.
while crusing then quick full throttle it hesitates couple of seconds den runs fine.
any one has this problem and how did you solve it?
any ideas whats wrong with my gauge or fuel pump?
