hi everyone.
a buddy and i have just swapped a D16z6 into my car. the swap is basically complete. all the wiring is pluged in. the car has fuel. car has spark. i dont know about the timing. cause we bought the whole swap and swappped it in.. the original owner didnt open up the motor. he said the car was running before he pulled the motor out.

so the car cranks but doesnt not start.. sometimes it sounds like it wants to start but doesnt start. i tried spraying starter fluid into the TB but still doesnt work.

Another thing, my buddy added gas to the car from a gas can that was in his backyard. i tried to start the car it wont start. then it turns out the gas was a mix of gas and oil that his dad mixed for his lawn mower and stuff like that. So once i realized that, i drained all the bad gas out of the gas tank. put premium gas in there (92 octane) and disconnected the gas like from the fuel rail and turn the key on so the fuel pump would push all the bad gas our with the new gas. then i also put new injectors on there cause the other one was contaminated with the shitty mix of gas and oil. then i also took the spark plugs out and cleaned them up. then i also put some rubbing alcohol in the cylinder so it will evaporate all the shitty gas mix that got inside the cylinder. so now the engine gets good gas all the way through. i still dont know why it wont start. sometimes it sounds like it wants to start. but doesnt.

if you have any idea whats wrong or any suggestions. please speak up. any help is appreciated. thanx

 

Maybe your dizzy? When you say it "tries" to start, does it just hesistate then quit?

I'll bump this, because im interested as well.

 

it tries to start as in.. crank crank then flooooop floooooop like it about to start. and some smoke would come out of the exhaust.

its not the distrubutor, it came from my old motor. it was running just fine.

 

check the fuel filter. If some oil started passing through your lines it would get clogged fast.

Thats true. Might suggest pulling an injector, to see what it looks like, just because of that oil.

Just a quick question, why swap another z6? Just need a car that runs?

check the map and TPs plugs. Make sure they are not switched. Check all no brainers first. That seems to be where I always make my mistakes.

 

look for CELs and if you don't have any make sure the wire are on the right places on the dizzy. top left is 3 then clockwise goes 3421

 

We replaced the injectors and fuel regulator, the firing order is correct, and the map and tps sensors should be right since the harness was never removed..but we have a fuel filter off a b17 that we will try tomorrow.

 

i say check the timing.

 

I'm saying timing or injectors.

 

I just checked timing and its fine, injectors are replaced, about to replace the fuel filter and the 02 sensor..

 

k just another update.. new ECU. new O2 sensor. car still dont start.

 

that sounds like a timing issue to me, try removin the dizzy and spin the shaft 180 put it back in and see what happens, i had that problem, #1 cyle=inder was at tdc and it was tryin to fire cylinder#3
