Default Question about the B16B engine.

I just want to know the main differences between the B16B engine from the Civic Type R and the B16A from the Civic Si or any EG6.

I know that the camshafts are different, the crank pulley and so many other parts.

There is any difference in the crankshaft? and/or the rods?

Head is factory polished (slightly), larger IM, larger TB, more agressive cams, block girdle, higher compression pistons, block deck height is the same as B18, dual valve springs on INT/EXH, factory red valve cover, ecu higher redline,.....

Was the engine ever offered stock in U.S. automobile?

Commonly made mistake. A Civic Type R TB is actually NOT 62mm and is a plain ole 60mm tb. Measured one myself straight from a B16B shipped from Japan. Make sure you measure the side by the throttle plate, NOT the opening, they taper.

then you would have a LS motor with beefy main girdle and a B16B head.... would have been easier to just buy an LS motor and ITR head....

exactly half the appeal of a b16b is its great rod to stroke ratio short stroke and high rpm power and stability an ls crank would ruin it youd have one expensive lsvtec

I think that people are WAY too heavily into this whole Rod/Stroke ratio garbage. Sure, its nice, but only to a point. Such a high rod/stroke ratio just makes for one hell of a peaky engine. I guess if you like revving the **** out of something to get it going then its fine and dandy.

i agree with you aswell id never own a b16b because i like a little bit of torque and its hard enough to get that even with 2.0; i was just saying that that is what alot of the appeal is of a b16b and that i would never buy a b16b motor and put in an ls crank because it would just be an expensive lsvtec that said 1.6 on the block
