Car alarm help!
I just recently bought a used 1997 Honda Civic and first thing I did to it was change the stereo. The alarm system and stereo system were all factory, so I suspect there must be something wrong with anti-theft?
Everything was working fine when I finished installing the stereo system when I was all done I tried to lock the car with the remote and it didnt respond. Soon after I tried to use the key to unlock it. And by then I had somehow activated the alarm system but the door was not locked.
In the end the result is a car that won't start and an alarm that keeps going off when I re-connect the battery, and a remote which the car does not respond to.
Has anyone had any similar problem to this? Any possible solutions will be appreciated, thanks!
Oh, and I bought it from a used car dealership so I called the guy and asked him for help but the solutions he gave me did not help. Stuff like turning the key to lock position and hold then unlock...

Thank you very much for your time, and that document..
I'm printing it out now and then it's time to get to work
I'll let you know how this turns out...May take a few hours or the whole day.
Thanks again FCM!

Okay, after a few hours if tearing down my plastic dash boards and wiggling frustration. I find I'm missing the "reverse (male) wire harness" necessary to keep my keyless entry. So I run to the local electronics store and the experts tell me there that they dont carry that harness and it's best for my situation to just keep my stock deck and run a tape deck out to a cd-player or whatnot.
When I arrive home I begin restoring everything to its original place and get all the wires hooked up to my original stereo module. Plug in the battery just to test if it works. And it turns out I am still in the same situation. The car's alarm system is still activated and it still won't respond to my remote, also I still cannot start the engine. I've probably done something wrong and I am going back to double check but is there any method to do a "reset to default" kind of thing? Thanks in advance!
ps - By this time the car alarm got so annoying I cut one of the wires to the horn, I'll solder it back when I get it all set back to normal. Hope my neighbors doesn't hate us.

bump.
What can be done about the alarm/remote when they dont work and I dont have the manual or the code. I think i've located the "valet switch" if that helps at all. Thanks in advance.

BTW. find another shop for the "T" harness, it is real dumbass for an install shop not to carry that harness as it is the only way to install an aftrmarket HU into your car without also installing an alarm or keyless entry, may also be able to get it here

Thanks again FCM,
In my stock stereo head unit, I've reconnected three wires, one seems like its for the tapedeck/cd changer( circular plug with pins, sort of like the ones on our keyboard/mouses), and another one is the harness, and the third one which i think supplies the power(looks like the 1/8 inch audio cables).
In the other post started by Dukers <https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1313642>=
He recommended me to set the key in the ignotion to systems on position (II) then connect the battery, but as soon as I connect the battery the alarm starts again. And the engine still wont start.
Should I call the dealership for help? If I do, the car which I bought from is just a used car dealership. So I'm wondering if I should call an official car dealership for help instead, but will they give me the time of day to listen to my problem?
Thanks in advance.

I've found the alarm system behind my dash and I think I also found the valet switch for it. Though I'm still stuck and I dont know how to fix it. It might help that I at least know the name of the alarm now. It is a small black box about the size of a deck of playing cards and on it reads "Hornet 700T"
If anyone knows anything about these alarms, any kind of advice would be appreciated. I'm going to try calling a dealership tomorrow about re-programming the keyless entry thing. Thanks in advance.
*good news* engine started, I can drive it around now. But, no alarm system and no keyless entry. So thanks for everything you have contributed FCM, I'll look into more detail about this hornet thing.

FCM you have brought me salvation...
Printing out a copy of that manual and i'm going to check with the dealerships today or any alarm places to help reprogram my remote. Hopefully I can get it back to normal.
As of now, the whole "new stereo system" thing is out of my consideration. I just need it to drive to and fro. If you know of anywhere I should get it re-programmed please let me know, many thanks again!

Go to http://www.dei.com and the dealer locater and find the dealers in your area, or if you know one you can go there. I will find out at work tomorrow how to program the remotes, I can't do it from my home PC, I don't get why DEI will give you the owners guide, but not the install guide
