Default 4th Gen BRAKE PEDAL....

Guys, When I push in my brake pedal it starts out stiff like the brakes are working and then it starts to gradually lose the pressure and starts to sink towards the floor. I was wondering if it would actually be the brakes (before i change them) or if it might be the master cylinder (hopefully not)....

It could be, but first try bleeding your brakes first or have it done somewhere. You may also be running crappy fluid. I think most brake fluid is clear or a clearish color. If its dark, murky, or has sediment in it you definetely have to get all that fluid out. So...

1.) Check fluid in the master brake cyclinder. Make sure its between the min and max lines and that the fluid still looks good.

2.) Bleed the brakes.

3.) Do the brake tests in the Helms manual if problem still persists.

4.) Replace whatever failed the test first in the order of the Helms manual testing procedure.

I don't know which gen you have, but I could summarize some of steps for these if you have a 4th gen
