The only advantage I can think the '06 Si might have over the '05 Type S is that the new Si is supposed to come with an OEM Torsen axle.
On the other hand, the '05 Type S comes with a pretty unique motor that is going to probably get a little de-tuning for the '06 model year.
From the evidence currently available, there doesn't seem to be any reason to prefer the McPherson suspension of the '06 Si to that of the '05 Type S.
If I were faced with this decision, honestly, I would buy the 2005 Type S six speed and start looking around immediately for an OEM LSD to install.
If there is any kind of advantage to buying the 2006 Civic Si instead of the 2005 Type S, we aren't going to know for another couple of months. I can't see much of a chance of there being any advantage, though.

In Japan this past week, a few american journalists had a look at the new Si. No question the new Si is a better choice. Japan listen to the US designers more than any other time.
It is going to have a k20a2 with LSD but from what I understand, it is going to suprise all of us. In a few weeks, hasport is getting one that they will prepare for SEMA. They are going to install a full race kit and tsx it with sleeves etc..

There are many reasons.. The most obvious is the the RSX is almost dead.. meaning.. no more after 2006.... The new Si will be around till at least 2010....
Dan Frio, editor of honda tuning looked at it this past week,, Call him and ask him

Does that really make a difference? I mean, from all I can see, the '06 Si is a rebodied '05 Type S. Isn't that about right?
I'm not sure there's much more in the way of improving a McPherson suspension that can be done after the '05 model year revisions.

its all up to you dude, what ever you like better. You shouldnt let other people deciede on what you think is a better looking car. Why dont you do this, wait for the new si to come out, test drive both and see what you think is better.
but if it was up to me, i would rather get the type s, much better in my own opinion. looks, and performance etc.... also i absolutly hate the new design, i mean can they not make it look any closer to the new scion sc? Its never going to be as pimp as the ep3 (which i currently drive).

If it is at all possible wait until you can at least test drive (when it comes out) the new Si and get the exact specs on it. ie- will it have LSD, curb weight (rumored to be about 200 pounds lighter than a RSX-S), and check out how you like the interiors. Dont forget to drive an RSX-S too if you already havent.
Best situation might be to drive them back to back and pick whichever you like better.

does anyone know about how much the price of the 05 type s is? im seriously considering it. its a lot better than my 97 civic dx. and that fact that it has a sport tuned suspension, literally turns me on

Anyway after a simple search on Edmunds I was able to find the MSRP $23,670 and Invoice $21,579 of an 05 RSX-S.

Just got off the phone with my honda insider
Here's some interesting news about the new Si.
It is going to have a motor labeled k20z3 or k20z4 (not sure which)
It is going to be using throttle by wire (like the tsx)
It is going to be availble with navigation just like the TSX.
The price without the navigation will be under 20K.

the drive by wire thing is a little gay, but i guess u can always upgrade to the tl if u need so. seems nice cant wait for it to hit streets i say ppl hate it now, then it will grow on them just like the ep3 i hated that thing with a passion now i love it like no other.
dam nikos u are just everwhere, were do u come up with time to post in so many areas lol.
