pucked clutch break-in?
its not a honda but i browse this board more than most others. plus srtforums is full of idiots.
I just installed a clutchmasters fx400 on my srt4, 6 puck sprung. i keep hearing mixed opinions, most say it doesnt need to be broken in, some say it does. clutch masters recommends that it should be. by not breaking it in will i be sacrificing longevity? holding power? any opinions would be appreciated.

I've always been told never to break anything in, if its going to break the first time you get on it, its going to break the last time you get on it...
I personally like to break clutches in a little bit...

Same here. i had a 6 puck clutch once that slipped like hell initially. wore it in a little. held fine after that.

i think that goes more along the lines of people breaking in motors.
with clutches the "breaking in" is getting the pucks to seat into the flywheel before you put alot of stress on them.
when i built a car strickly for race i had the same question because i had been under the impression that you need to break a clutch in. I talked directly with rob smith from RPS clutches (thats the kind of clutch i had) and he told me just to take it to the track and run it like i normally would, but on after i am done with the race, try and keep the clutch peddle depressed as i go back to the pits so the flywheel spinning will cool off the surfaces so the pucks dont prematurally wear

Break it in if you are going to be using it as a daily driver! If you take a little time to break it in with normal stop and go driving, the chatter will go away and the clutch will last longer. If you mostly race the car break in is not manditory, the clutch will hold all the power, the life of the clutch will sacrificed but that is racing.
