LS/VTEC making gay knocking noise
last night i beat this supercharged jaguar, and in the middle of the race at high rpm i heard a strange noise which sounded like something cracked or broke so i let off.. and drove home. today i started my car, went and got gas and on the way out of the gas station i got on it a bit, and after my vtec kicked in, it hesitated a bit. and then thats when the noise happend.. here's a video.. would appreciate if someone could tell me what it could possibly be.. this is a built ls vtec; or was. ******* thing.

hey mike, like i said on AIM, best thing to do would prob take off the valve cover and examine everything, if everything looks ok, then take off the head and check outthe block...im not very mechanically inclined but thats what i would do of course with someone who knows what they are looking at...good luck man, u know i love your DA
Sounds like a lifter or something. Maybe a piston? I would take the head off and check it and the block out very well. Maybe even take off the oil pan and check for metal shavings on the bottom side of the block. Just my .2.

check your rod bearings...sounds like something that happened to me...i got on it one night and all a sudden a knocking noise came from my block...really loud...i drained the oil and dropped the oil pan and i had metal shavings in my oil pan and in the drained oil from the bearings...usually happens from lack of oil, also, when u put the motor together, did u use all the same color rod bearings or were they all different?
honestly not too sure.. i'm not the one that built the motor, i don't see why it would be from lack of oil because i just changed the oil.. but previously i loaned the car to my friend and then noticed when he brought it back it didn't have very much oil in it.
are rod bearings expensive to replace?

so today i noticed my alternator belt was all screwed up, like assbackwards and ****.. i fixed that.. started the car, still heard the knocking and pushed in the clutch and the knocking went away.....got my hopes up, let off the clutch.. the knocking came back.. YES.. THROWOUT BEARING!!!! i revved a little.. with the clutch in, and the knock was back.. NOO.. not the throwout bearing..

It doesn't really sound like a rod bearing as a rod bearing would be a slower rap, rap. It sounds like a piston pin, as it is a double very fast rap, rap, rap. I don't know why it would be a piston pin though. Your best bet is to drain the oil--look for signs of bearing wear(brass or copper colored chunks that sparkle) and start taking the block apart.
i would def try taking off the oil pan and checking to see if you have any signs of wear from bearings and what not... good luck man.... frankenstein motors are a bitch i know
