Hi, I'm helping my brother out, I not really a honda guy, as you can tell from my SN. I have an AE86, but a cars is a car and an engine is an engine for the most part.

Yesturday did a tune up on his car, replaced his alternator, topped off all his fluids, including tranny.

Car runs great now, but he told me hes been having a problem.

At lights some times it will die and or just driving around.
When it dies the
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON and the S3 (automatic) light will blink
the car will NOT START...
After taking the key out and trying to start the car at least 5 times did not work
Finally the check engine light went away and the S3 stopped blinking, car started right up.

I checked his owners manual and it said while driving if the check engine light comes on it normally means a fuel injection problem.

I can hear a ticking Thought it might be a lifter sticking, but it sounds like its coming from the injectors.

Tomorrow I will be checking the ECU codes, but wanted to know if anyone else can give me any ideas if they have had a check engine light and the S3 light blinking and the car would not start

I am having a similar issue with my Acura Integra LS. The check engine light came on the other day and the S3 light is also flashing. It takes a while to start after sitting overnight. I have no idea what the issue is so far.

 

I think OP fixed his problem...8 years later. However, post the codes i'd start a new thread tho.
