Default tilting turbo for fitment? how much is too much?

im getting a custom manifold made and i was curious what is limit for tilting a turbo so that it doesnt starve for oil. 45 degrees? 30 degrees? 20?

the reason i ask is for fitment on my car it would work out best to tilt the turbo so that the intake can run up behid the headlight and the downpipe has very little bend.

i want real knowledge not just some guesses if any one knows. thanks

As little as possible. I have heard 15° before, but I wouldn't even chance that.

i thought it was about 20 but i want someone to confirm that really knows

what would happen if it was tilted too much? i mean under 45 it would still flow oil but would it jsut starve the compressor side?

You can clock the center housing to point however you want... why does it matter?

I thought he meant putting one wheel higher than the other. I try to keep it around 5* or less on the stuff i build and about 15* either way on clocking the center.

In Maximum Boost is says it shouldn't be more than 30 degrees off center, to allow for proper lubrication and oil drainage.

I have seen a few setups that push 30 degrees, maybe even more without any problems. But who knows, it might make the bearings and seals wear out more quickly even if doesn't leak right off the bat.

I all honestly I don;t think it would matter. If you have proper oil pressure, oil will be forced through the center cartridge no matter how it was mounted.

Yeah, but oil is drained by gravity only so therin lies the problem.
