run some seafoam though it

Does it sound like coffee beans shaking violently in a coffee can?

theres 2 thing i can say... if the gas knock like that... then ur backfiring... did you do any mods to ur car? if yes then check ur wiring... if not the it might sound like ur valve mess up... and the valve will sound like everytime you start ur engine you can hear it... and when you gas it.. it goes louder... thats the only thing i kno... good luck

How's your timing?

Have you checked if the rattling is coming from the catalytic converter? Sometimes, when the cat is shot, it breaks down and rattles inside of itself.

sounds like detonation or pinging. Usually happens with either too advanced tiuming, too high compression, not enough fuel, or too low octane. Grab a timing light and make sure your timings cool. Adjust if needed, check cam timing, etc.

definitely sounds like a detonation problem. as described above, you need to check the timing, and a good tune up never hurts either. as the cat converter does rattle when it's broken up (the resonator too) you can check it very easily by getting under the car when it's cold, and grab the exhaust pipe and move it back and forth real quick. if it's bad, you will hear it rattle just like those coffee beans. i can't imagine too many other problems that would cause a knocking like you are describing. when it starts to knock, does the engine buck at all, or is the power delivery still smooth and un-interrupted? if the car starts to buck when it is making the knocking sound then i would say it's definitely detonation problem. as mentioned before, it can be a combo of bad fuel or bad timing. just curious, but have you ever tried to put regular 87 octane in there? sometimes cars are temperamental like people, kind of like how some people need to drink heineken to have a good time, while others work better with Natural Ice. just an idea.

timing is fine .. did tune up and same clicky "gas knock" noise and weird exhaust spuddering noise.. no hesitation just clicking.. its definitley inside the motor .. im thinkin about swaping it anyway.. its a good excuse
