Default D15B7 TO D16Z6 OR D16? SWAP Honda Civic 92 DX

Hey I have a Honda Civic 92 DX with a d15b7. I was wondering if you could swap a D16Z6 head. I did a little research but some people say no & some say yes I am a little puzzle.

Also would it be better if I just buy the whole d16z6 motor & leave the tranny of the d15b7 & just purchase the d16z6 motor. Or would I have to buy the whole motor with tranny.

Thanks a lot.

you obviously havent searched, its called a mini me when u put the head on. u can swap the motor minus the tranny and keep yours but it will be just as slow cuz the tranny is longer. i would either swap a complete motor over or boost your motor now

definitely buy the z6 tranny with the motor. The d15b7 tranny will rob you of hp if your motor is better. Just get the complete swap and be done with it. Also, when your done with that, build it up and turbo! good luck

I would say go for the head swap and use the z6 tranny. I did and I'm very happy with it. It pulls rally hard. I have a 94 coupe and I raced my friend with a cx hatch with the jdm d15vtec in his car. We raced and first and second gear I leave him by like 2 cars but then he starts to pull cause of my exhaust leak.....So personally I would say go for it. I'm pretty sure you will happier. If you can also get a y8 intake manifold. I have one if you need it. Good luck yo.

Shawn

All right thanks for the quick reply.

Around how much hp will a d16z6 with tranny give me? Just all motor. How much more hp will it give me compare to the stock d15b7

Um...don't ask that question. They will get on you bad for that. Tranny don't give you hp. The z6 just have shorter gears so your motor will move quicker

You can go with either the z6 or y8. the y8 is said to have 127hp while the z6 has 125, but both have their pluses and minues. IMO i would stick with the z6, build it, and boost it!

The Ex/SI tranny is the same thing. 92-95 civic ex is the older gen. civic SI. so anytime you hear EX/SI its the same thing.

seriously man why are you such an ******* to this guy? Just cuz he may not know as much about cars or motors, doesnt mean you gotta be a dick about it. BTW out of all those motors, a K20A swap is simply put the hardest and most expensive swap to do. Not to mention its rarely done cuz most people dont know how to do it and its also a very hard motor to get ahold of, along with pairing with an inexperienced person with motors. If you were to do a swap, i would do a b20/vtec or even an ls/vtec swap, which is a b18b motor paired with a vtec head. IMHO i would stick with the turbo D! a lot of fun unless you plan on turboing an ls/vtec or b20/vtec swap.

An ITR motor is a B18c5 and a GSR motor is the B18c1 unless your talking about JDM then its just the B18C...
