ok... my stock dizzy **** the bed.. so i bought a new one that i thought had the internal coil built in (TD-61U ) but low and behold .. NOPE... so no i guess im just gona run an external coil to the dizzy... has anyone done this? i just need to know how to wire that bitch up can i just run the msd coil or do i need the full ignition? thanks guys!

 

you need the msd ignition box as well

I'm running a JDM dist with only the msd coil. (I've seen WAY too many MSD boxes "**** the bed")

You just run the wires that originally went to the coil strait into the MSD coil.. then run the ignition wire into a USDM Cap. In a nutshell - you run a USDM style coil setup with an MSD coil..

thanks for the responses....now your running an external type dizzy with a msd coil hooked up to it? thats exactly what i want to do... i just may need a lil advice about the wiring going from he dizzy to the coil.... because my car originaly had an internal coil ... thanks again...

i dont want to run the whole ignition system, i just want to run an external coil ... is this possible?

 

i was looking at the diagram for that... i dont want to run the whole ignition setup.. just the coil.. so could i just run orange (+) to the black and yellow wire (+) on the dizzy and do the same for black (-) to the white/blue (-) wire on the dizzy... do i just wire those bitches right up and run it? someone told me something about using a resistor aswell?

 

go to http://www.cb7tuner.com and go into the swap section and ask someone there.
they should know since anyone that has the H22 swap had to change from internal to external coil.
if you want to run an ignition box and coil i have a MSD HVC series ignition and coil i will sell.
but they can tell you how to wire it up. good luck
