Default oh god here we go

well i just finished swaping the Z6 into my '91 std hatch... i hook up the battery and go to start the car and all i here is the starter click... when i turn the key to acc i hear the pump priming but it doesnt shut off... and when i go to start the car the pump whines higher... i cant check CEL's because i swapped out my gauge cluster and ever since i did that the CEL light has acted funky even when everything was fine... i think my problem involves how i hooked up the starter(of course)... can anyone give me instructions on how to hook up the starter and where all the wires from the fuse box lead... thats another thing i wanted to check up on... thanks guys

Check the main ground on the thermostat housing. Bet you forgot to put it on.

that should b the wire conected to the pos side of the battery and then it routes to the second conector in the fuse box.

Real dumb question, did you recharge the battery?

I'm taking my '90 lx's d16z6 harness out to retape it in a few days, I could take pix if you want. Sorry to hear, I dreaded facing such probs while I was putting it in.

Yes the battery is charged and yes that would be cool if you could do that... it would help out a lot... and as for the second connector on the fuse box... which one is that? is it the second from the front? no its not the starter ground... i already have that hooked up... where do i hook the starter up to? that is my main problem... thanks a lot guys for the help

You should have a "T" shaped wire that starts at the pos battery. Goes to the starter and then the gold ring you had in your had goes to the pass fuse box.

I'm in the same problem but I can't find the other gold plug.

yeah i wasnt sure about that but that shouldnt affect whether or not my car cranks over right? my friend came over for a few minutes before he went to school and messed with the starter... whenever he bridged the + and - terminals nothing would happen... actually the only thing that happened was a clicking sound came from either the middle two connectors or something underneath the intake manifold... why is it doing that? im going to go ground everything i can and switch the tps and map sensor connectors... thanks again guys and if theres anything else you can think of either post on here or call my cell... 419-233-2041

Im guessing, but it would do this

First of all, make sure the wiring into the fuse box is correct, that wire needs to be grounded. i think there might be a ground that bolts near the braket that holds the brake lines under/near the fuse box.

1.) replace the battery with a known good one(out of a running car) or brand new one.
1.5)check the clutch switch

2.)check the ecu connections

3.)make sure your battery terminals arent backwards

4.)is the starter jammed?(take a long *** screwdriver, put it on the starter part next to the tranny, and whack it a few times with a hammer. or take it out, but leave it plugged in and see if the bendix kicks out the gear(turn the key and see if it pops out when it spins, whie a good friend wearing cloves holds it away from anything)

make sure the wires in the fuse box are corectly in place and there arent any fuses bad.

just my guesses

thanks a lot man... turns out i had a few wires switched and all of my grounds sucked... so after i got all those figured out the motor slowly cranked over and finally after a few tries it cranked like normal and fired!! so much smoke came out that when my girl opened the door about 30 sec. later to see what was going on the fire alarm went off... lol anyways she runs perfect and i found out that the clutch and flywheel are aftermarket because it revs like a bike(almost) and the clutch grabs instantly... i couldnt be any more happy with this... i ran it around the block real quick and i didnt have the speed cable in so there was no vtec and it still felt fast!! lol now that ive hooked the speed cable up im going to go drive around for a little bit and then go up against my buddies b18 eg ... ill let you know the results... thanks so much guys for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ground in your hand looks like the one for the fuse box on the right hand side of the car. If you have that hook up already like everyone has mentioned its for the starter bolt 12mm.

i just redid all of the grounds and switched the plugs that go to the tps and the iacv... after that i never had a problem... this is just a shot in the dark but you might want to try to do that and if that doesnt work i would just redo all of the wiring and make sure that it is all correct... any other questions just ask
