They both are good cars but I would take the RSX-S over the EP3 for the extra gear, more HP, and "real" v-tec. The EP3 is def a few grand cheeper tho.

Both nice cars either way...

to me the only downer to the ep3 in terms of just having a reliable car comparison is the shifter on the top thing, im not diggin that. but otherwise if u pimp em both out, hard to choose between which car.

I'd go with the type-s all the way, unless the ep3 had a type-s swap on it.

ep3 with a type s swap, but both hav down sides.....

ie.
Shifter position
Interior (Suede vs Leather)
Center consoles (although both hav no armrests)
Steering System
Wheelbase length (dunno if they are the same)

There are a bunch of other things, but they are esentially both hondas and hav most of the same options...

tons of differences. it's more like contrasting an lx civic against an si. an integra ls against an integra gsr. like any car, there are it's ups and downs. noticeably, the weight on the ep is heavier than the dc5, but at the same time, the ep is stiffer. as well as the motor itself. there are tons of differences. please do some little research. it'll help you out. otherwise, suit up

Couple of Points 05 is now obsolete with everybody knowing and expecting the 06 revamp model. Old one is 160 hp.. Rsx and Tsx use the 200hp version. 40 to 50 hp Down is no joke :-).
Silly dash mount shifter.. although it works OK is not to my liking.. but the EP3 was (is?) ...made in England.. not the very best of Pedigrees :-)

RSX-S is definitely faster and more luxrious. EP on the other hand, has alot more room and still fun to drive @ cheaper price.. It's actually more than a couple grands in price difference... A brand new type S would usually not sell less than $22500 but EPs are on average sold around $17000-175000. So we're looking at about $4000-5000 in price difference...

One thing really special about the EP3 is that you dont really see them around much often. It's one of a kind...

depends on what you want to do with your car.

the ep3's stock engine is good for boost and i think they look nice with a little drop and some rims and the HPF lips \ spoilers.

rsx is nice too, id go NA tunes if i got one, shoot for an 05 because the engine is better then the 02-04's.

i personally like the ep3 better, i like the seats in the ep3 (leather burns like hell here in florida) and the shifter and just the overall car, what really makes me like the ep3 more is how unique it is, i have only seen 3 in jacksonville FL as opposed to 57894078592 RSX's.

but its all about what you think. good luck

I test drove both. The Type-S is very much faster, seemed to handle a little better than the Si, but the Si was more fun. BIG benefit of the Si is the seats, they are great. The Type-S seats had less side bolsters, and the leather of course, which is a major drawback. Leather seats just suck, they just do, and when cornering, i dont wanna slide into my passenger.

Both are really good cars. But I would have to go with the DC5 because it's faster and a lot more luxurious. However, the EP3 seats own.

my brother got his for 18k off the show floor back in 02. Ep3s are definitely fun to drive. The DC5 are nice but yeah, there are too much out there. With the 5k difference, you can swap a k20a2 into an EP3 for 5k.

I think the best solution is the Civic Type-R of course.

Get a EP3 Si and put the Type-S head on, or a K20R cause in terms of driving, the Si is somehow more "fun" regardless that its slower.

I raced a Mustang GT V8 in my D16Y7 96 Honda Civic sedan. He won by only 2 car lengths at about 80mph. Dont know how I caught up, but having driven my car and Mustang GTs, my car feels more fun to drive, even tho its quieter, slower, and has 4 doors, hehe.

I like the ep3 better. It is such a fun car and I think all cars should have the rally shifter...it just makes sense.

with the money you save on getting an ep3 over a dc5, you could go turbo and what not and then you be fast than a types, just say you get a eo3 for 14 used spend 5g and have 250+ hp while a good dc5 is worth 18-20k? so Turbo EP3 for 19k or stock dc5 for 18k? i would go with the ep3, just my thought. thats if u had 19k

Why?

Basically the same suspension, same weight, same motors and gearboxes available...why is the EP3 better?

The only thing I can think of is that it might be easier to rotate, despite having the same weight, because of a different polar moment of inertia.

If you're really lucky, you'll land a job with group insurance that covers psychiatric care.
