I personally like my kumhos. They grip fairly well, the noise isnt unbearable, and last but not least you get more than what you pay for. However, if I can go back, i'd take the Azenis over em in a heartbeat.

I don't plan on getting the ectas after I go through my present Kuhmos. They're decent for the price...but...I now understand the inportance of a stiffer sidewall...

My friend has them on his hybrid. Makes high 180s at the wheels, and it LIGHTS em up HARD. I mean, these are the noisiest tires I have ever experienced. They don't have much traction in a straight line.

I like the Kumho 712's. At first I hated the tires. But, once I started running them at 38-40 psi they performed great. I especially like them in the rain.

I've read that increasing the psi will help with the performance...but I hesitate to pump them up to 38-40 pounds. The most that I'd inflate the tires is 35 psi.

DavidNYC: How long have you been running the Kuhmos @ 40 psi? Also, when did you fill the tires? In the morning, after a long drive, on a hot day or during a typical NY winter?

Thanks.

I've been running them at 38-40 psi (cold pressures) for about 15K miles. But, I'll admit, I don't check my pressures every day. I usually check them every week or two (less so in the winter). I just rotated my tires, again. The fronts show the usually over-inflated wear pattern => on the front tires, the middle of the tire is slightly more worn than the edges. Not very noticeable.

Weather conditions=> Summers +90 degree days; Winters 20 degree days. Tires performed great in the full range of temperatures.

Tires=> 205/50 15

Will I buy these tires again? That is a good question. Most likely I will because:
1. Cheap
2. I don't push the tires super hard on the street. I have two other sets of wheels (one for autocross and one for road racing)
3. They are great in the rain. But, I am only comparing these to tires that I have driven before. I have only owned Integra's so I was unfortunate enough to own those crappy Michelins XGT's. But, the Kumho's are better than our stock RE010's in the rain.
4. They have lasted about 15K miles and looks like they can go another 15K miles. This is about a year and a half at my current mileage rate.

I brough the 712 in may of 2000 i liked them but i they didnt compair to the A520's. The a520 were alot louder than the 712 in the 225 aspect, but they performed well for a 78 dollar tire. I still have my set and use them for long distance driving. BUt with my daily driving i replaced them after two months and brought the Pirellie P-Zero Aasimetricos.
