Default Reverse Speed problem on 4th Gen 94 JDM BB4 (H22A)

Guys,

I have a JDM spec imported Prelude from Japan.

Model BB4 , 200hp, H22A, 94 Prelude 5spd, mileage 20.000km original km from Japan.

The problem> car was shifting all ok, suddenly the REVERSE speed only will go in.

Does any one know maybe where I should look for to fix this problem, before taking the trany down for inspection.

Regards,
Rishi

Does it grind when you go in? Did you check your clutch fluid level? I had a similar problem, but I think it was with all gears, I may not have tried reverse though. Anyhow, I couldn't get it into and gear 1 - 5th at least because I had no clutch fluid.

Maybe check your tranmission fluid too? Its probably good to start checking the basics if you haven't already before you start tearing things up.

Also shifter cable could be an issue, but I dunno if it would cause those symptoms.

Regardless, that some of the easiest stuff to check for right away.

shifter cable could most certainly cause that issue. It happened to me in our 2002 RSX Type S, except I could only go into 2nd.

Fluid, all is fine.
does not Grind, it just does not go in the reverse at all.

All the rest of gears are ok, car runs great, only Reverse is not going in at all.

As both of you mentioned to chek the Shifter cable, can you please help me with WHERE THAT CABLE is suppose to be, so I can see which one we are talking about and to be on the same page.

OHHHH I thought you meant it didn't go into any gear except reverse... sorry about that my bad.

Shifter cable is two two cables that run to a plate on top of your transmission below the intake air tube. If I had a camera I would take a picture...
This is the best I can do to show you what the end of the cable looks like, it connects to the shifter arms sticking out of the transmission:

The ends of the cables that plug into the transmission are in that picture at the top right (they have the black boots near the end). If all else fails have someone move around the shifter into and out of gears and track down the sound

We cheked all, the Cables all are ok,I think it must be the FORK.

We will take tranny down to chek it out.
