How do I improve clutch engagement?
I have a 92 gs-r and sometimes the clutch engagement isn't as smooth as it should be. I had a 92 gs before i got this car and the clutch engagement was a lot smoother. it seems as though in the gs-r it engages too early sometimes, causing the tires to bounce, and even when i press the clutch back in to try to get it to stop it keeps going. i'm not sure if this is a cable issue, a clutch issue, or a flywheel issue, or what. the engagement point in the gs was also closer to the floor, and as far as i know both clutches are the same. anyone know what it could be?
you can adjust the cable that goes into the tranny, and that will help. ultimately, to me it seems you have different clutches between the two cars. my 92 gisser was the same way before i replaced the oem clutch.
Ultimately what I'm trying to do is not to have the engage point be so small in first gear. Like i said, it only does the rough starting part of the time. I'm assuming i will have to replace the clutch to fix it?
the thing is it doesn't do it all the time. i think im lifting off the clutch the same way evertime, and sometimes it hops and sometimes its normal. doesn't really make any sense.

i think its definately the clutch, last night i was sitting at a light and and was just shifting to pass the time and when the light turned green the car didn't want to move. it was very strange, the clutch was trying to engage as soon as i lifted my foot. and it took me a while to get it going without stalling. im not sure why this would happen because its a cable clutch, i could understand something like this happening if it was hyrdo because of the fluid, but this is ridiuclous.
yea, well i have no idea how to do that. i have to get the car inspected next week so i will just have my mechanic look at it. i tried to replace the head gasket on my 97 gsr and i screwed it up, so im done doing difficult crap. i just needed to know what it sounded like was going wrong, don't want to pay to have it looked at if it's something minor.
well, as long as you have something to hold the tranny up, like a big jack, it is easy. especially since it is a cable. all u need to do is disconnect the tranny cable, about 12 bolts, and there u go!!!
if you don't know how to work on it, it is the best let someone else who know how to do it.
One question, when you at the trafic light and at the time when you take off does your rpm went up but the car doesn't go any where?
if so your clutch is wear off already.....change clutch asap.

yea, thats what happened when i kept putting it in first and taking it out. sometimes it trys to engage too early on the pedal when starting in first and i have to give it a lot of gas to and push the clutch down more in order to keep it from bouncing. but sometimes it works fine. i don't see why it wouldn't do something all the time. its just random it seems like.

Just a quick question....adjusting the clutch cable can shorten clutch travel? I havea 00 gs-r and my clutch engages when my foot is like almost off the clutch and i want to make it a bit closer to the floor. Basically, i want to know if adjusting the clutch cable can make my "catch point" closer to the floor?
Sorry, im not trying to jack ur thread but since the clutch cable discussion came up, i just wanted to ask

These were my symptoms in both my 93 before my accident and my 90 before the clutch went out. For me, the small clips that hold the springs in place on the clutch had broke, so you better start looking into a new clutch. Be careful man because it's just a matter of time before it goes out, and I'd hate for anything bad to happen because trust me I regret pushing it to this day.
