Default B20Z with GS-R internals. What are the advantage and disadvantages.

I have a B20Z Motor.
I have a GS-R crank, Rods sitting here.
Now I heard somewhere some people are putting the GS-R crank into the B20Z to get a shorter stroke or something like that.
I heard it revs faster but I know it will lower the Displacement to 1.9 something.

What are the facts?
Who has done this?
What rods?
Do the GS-R rods press on to the B20Z stock pistons?
What are the advantages and dis advantages?

Thanks
Andy

in theory it would be the same as an 84mm B18C1.

although its true that the GSR has a shorter stroke than a b18a/b b20b/z, they have the same deck height. If the wrist pin is located the same depth into the piston on a b18c1 and your b20, it should work, but if not, the piston will be out of the hole or down in the hole changing compression and possibly rendering the engine useless should piston come in contact with head... im not sure of the wrist pin location data though.

If it works, it would give a better rod/stroke ratio than a normal b20/b18a/b bottom end, at the expense of a small amount of displacement.

Ya it's all the same ****. The only thing is that the B20 pistons have shallow valve
relief's, and are know for smacking valves on vtec heads. You might what to
look into getting a set of some good pistons. Other than that you'll be OK.

Ya you can do that, if you decide to do it use some b16 pistons, and you'll get more compression.
With the LS internals you get more torque, but at the same time you will be lossing some top end.
If you get some ARP rod bolts it would be safe to rev to 8.5, or 9 so you wouldn't be lossing top end.
Ya that's a good thing to do you'll even have more displacement.
The bigger motor the better.
