Default how to tune a sound system after wiring and components are complete

i am running a alpine head unit
type r 12" sub max power 1500w rns 500 with a 1000w amp
100w speakers with a 720w amp
after all this is in what is the best way to tune everything
how do i know the sub and speakers are getting to little power or to much power?
the gain on each amp should not be all the way up correct.

thanks for any help

well you can tell if you have too much power(your gain i guess) if your speakers start distorting.
First off (turn all gain controls all the way down) remove the rcas to the sub amp so that it is only your mids and highs, then turn the volume up to 3/4. Then usually the amp for mids/highs will need the frequency to be at around 125 or so. then slowly turn the gain up till the speakers start to distort a little and then back down slowly to where there is no distortion. then plug the sub amp rcas back in and do the same thing for it. the frequency settings for sub amps are usually between 80-100. This is my personal way of doing this.(also how i learned where i work!!)

wow...80-100? That's silly high...60-75 is the sweet spot for most good setups...(Assuming you have a decent crossover unit...)
