Default D series oil amount in tranny

How much oil does a d series tranny use?
I have a si trans, and I could only fill it up to 1.5 qts and no more?
I thought a d series was 3 quarts, well a b series is about 3 quarts anyways
thanks just want to make sure i have enough in there

When draining and filling it's only about 1.5qts. There will always be some left in there that you can't drain out.

I always buy 2 qts to replace what came out and never use it all.

But yes, nocturnal is right. You fill it until it comes out the fill hole.
