http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33597

Hi i have seen this Spoon ECU on ebay, has anyone ever used one or currently running one. Need some advise on wether to get it

Does anyone have any idea if it still runs the Diagnostics checks on start up or if it just bypasses it?

I recieved one as an xmas gift. It worked but never detionated VTEC. I did notice a power increase though and it would rev higher, but what good is it w/o VTEC? Mine is for sale.

I have one in my DA right now... I love it, and will miss it when I sell it with the car.
All the diagnostic checks and vtec worked in mine. The difference was vtec was set at 5500rpm, no knock sensor, no speen gov., and the redline is at 9500rpm.

It's an P28 ecu. I'm kinda learly that Spoon actually makes a "chip" because you don't see one on their website. I may have it rechipped for something else (Hondata, Crome, etc.) but in the meantime it's been sitting in the box it came in from the seller off of ebay. We've tried a couple times to install it, but haven't had the time to sit down and figure out why it won't detoninate. Maybe something is wrong with my motor that my "virgin" P28 isn't telling me that the "Spoon" one is.

what the hell is detoninate

and IMO, any ECU or chip that isnt tuned specifically for your car isnt worth $1. I can tell you right now that you'll get the same effects of the "spoon" ECU by advancing your distributor all the way and turning your fuel pressure up to about 50psi. It does just that.. advances the timing to crazy degrees and makes the car run rich.

spoon does not sell a chip its self, they only sell new chipped complete ECUs. So on their website in japan, or a US dealers site, you should only see complete ECUs offered.

detoniate=explode,deploy.

I agree with the rest of what you said, as why mine is for sale, or I'll have it rechipped with something else.

I'd recommend having your current ecu chipped. From what I've heard, the going rate is about $40-$50 to get it chipped plus time to have it tuned by someone. Or, buy mine
