why do you have to retard timing? i dont get it.
i would think, with boost, and higher compression, retarding the timing would make the fuel come closer to pre-igntion.
so why retard so much for turbo applications? to let more fuel in?

backwards. advancing it comes closer to pre-ignition.

i thought advancing it, makes it ignite sooner?
for example if it was really far advanced it would blow before the intake valve closed all the way????

retarded to the correct point and w/ the addition of alot of fuel u can basically ignite the charge on the downstroke thus pushing the pistons down and heating up the turbo= quicker spool and more power

go grab yourself a timing light, advance your timing, and get on it hard a few times then
tell us how much you love that marbles in a can sound. or if you're boosted then tell us how much you love your melted pistons
