ZC Swap Question Did A Search And Found Nothing
Ok so I own a 1990 Honda CRX, its got a D15 and id like to Swap a DOHC ZC into it Now the Motor that im thinking about buying has
• Complete Motor
- Block
- Intake Manifold
- Complete Head
- Sensors
- Exhaust Manifold
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
- Distributor
- Throttle Body
- Alternator
- Starter
- Ignition Wires
- A/C Compressor
- Power Steering Pump
- Headers
will the SI tranny fit on the ZC what all else do i need for this swap?
How hard of a swap is it to do? Is it something that no one who has ever swapped a motor do it without alot of problems?
and what kinda 1/4 times can i expect for a Swaped ZC
Also this might be dumb but will the SI intake Manafold fit on the ZC and will it gain or lose HP from that and will my 1.5 headers fit on the ZC
sorry if these questions are dumb but this is the 1st ive really looked into the ZC

i'm not 100% sure, so someone should comfirm this.. but the si tranny will fit, so will the intake and headers, pretty much just treat the engine as a sohc d series, bolt pattern wise.. quater mile times, maybe 15's, 15.1-5 area.. at the end of the day its still about 130whp with all the bolt-ons
Yes the si trany will fit. You will have to use the intermediate shaft from the si and the si axles. Eather manifold will work don't reallt matter. If you are gonna use the ZC ex manifold you have to have the down pipe also, but you can use the si. There is really no diff in the hp gains.

There is no intermediate shaft on the Si. If you are using a Zc tranny then you will need the Zc intermediate shaft. Just use the Si axles and you'll be fine.

me and a friend just recently zc swapped his 88' crx si and the si tranny wouldnt fit but the header and all that good stufff did.
the reason the tranny didnt fit is because the 88/89 have a diffrent number of splines. I think they have 20 and 90/91 have 22 or its the other way around but thats why.

looks like you've got what you need, i'm starting to remove my old D15b2 from my 91DX. same swap, from what i'm told its pretty much a bolt in, then once its in there are just a few details to work out, such as exhaust manifold and a few hoses.

I'm pretty sure that the si intake manifold will not fit. You will probably have to port the header because the zc ports are larger than other d series ports.

The 88 is the only oddball year for spline count. 89 is the same as 90-91.

If its a 90-91 Si Tranny then it will work, if you use a ZC tranny then you will need the ZC intermediate shaft and ZC axles, or 90-93 Teg Axles.
The intake manifold wont work, the bolt patterns are different. But the header will fit, but you will have to port match it beause the ZCs ports are a bit differant. I got lucky and when I bought my motor there was a Mugen header on the engine so I bought it with it.
This swap is fairly easy, as long as your competent when it comes to cars. Only hard part was swaping over the wiring harness and wiring up the distributor. Other than that it was a weekend swap that me and my girlfriend did in my garage.

The SI tranny fits and works perfectly with the DOHC ZC. when i used to have a CRX i wish i would have gone with a 1.8 tho.... not that much power from a ZC... also never ran a 1/4 mile but 1/8 mile was about 10.3 i believe
