Default 2nd or 3rd gen B16A into LX EF civic?

Hey, I'm just wondering what is involved in putting a B16A2/B16A3/B16A SIR II into an LX sedan.

I'd probably be using a 99-00 civic Si engine.

Is the hydraulic clutch the only significant difference between that and the 1st gen B16A? How painful is the hydro conversion?

the easiest way is to get an xsi swap. i have a 92 xsi swap which is the second gen engine with a ys1 cable transmition. no expensive hasport hydro mounts needed.

the hydro conversion shouldn't be too difficult, but will cost you.

Can't do that, XSI is JDM-only.

the sir you listed is jdm as well.

if you want to have a hydrolic trans. then check out the hasport website, they make the conversion kit that you will need. with that kit, you shouldn't have any problems.

What? No, the 1999-2000 Civic Si is not JDM-only

Ok....WTF are you talking about? 99-05 Civic Engine? 99 civic Si's had B16's yes, but 05's had K series engines so I dunno wth you're talking about there.

Second, What the hell is this "JDM only/Not JDM only crap you're saying?

I'm going to go ahead and Assume you want to drop in a B16A SiR II. Which is OBD1. First of all you need to convert your Civic to MPFI since its DPFI, then after that, convert the car to OBD1. (this is one of the bigger differences between the 1st gen and 2nd gen B16's, 1st gens are OBD0, 2nd gens are OBD1)

If you wanna use the Hydro tranny, you need the Hydro B-Series mount kit that Hasport sells. If you want to use a Cable tranny, use the Cable B-Series mount kit. etc. etc....

Why the hell am I even explaining this? Theres a zillion topics on this if you click Search, and search the archives in the Civic/CRX forums for something along the lines of "B16 Swap" or even just "Swap".

Swapping the USDM B16 into an EF is the same work you'd do if you swap in the JDM one, so the information about swapping a B16 in general is the same (except for what OBD you will be using). Why is it such a big deal to get the USDM one?

No, 4dr LX EF's are DPFI, I have one. If you want the 99-00 Si engine, why did you list "B16A SiRII"? The B16A SiRII is a JDM motor, and is OBD1, thats what's confusing everyone about your question.

I would go with a 2G motor. Unless you are going to rewire to OBDII, buying a 3G motor will require that you separately source a 1992-1995 B16A ECU. It is more economical to get the 1992-1995 motor WITH the proper ECU.

They can be, all you need is the USDM Intake manifold and exhaust manifold, and USDM ECU. I didn't think you'd worry about that since your location says NY.

I'm not in california YET.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if I'm in california or not as I didn't ask which engine I should use in the first place, in fact I SAID which engine I was probably using. Only one post in this thread has actually answered my question.

Actually no, because of your "typo" you said 99-05 engine, then you said B16A2, B16A3, and B16A SiR II. Like I said before, the B16A SiR II Is a JDM engine, if you wanted to use a USDM engine, Why did you put that there in the first place? If you would have just said "I will be using a 99-00 Civic Si Engine" in your original post, half of these assumptions wouldnt even be going around in this thread.

Like I said before, All you have to do is click Search>Archives> then type "B16 Swap"

and you would have found posts like this

If you want your questions answered, try to ******* clearify what the hell you want to know, then search for your damn answer, thats what the SEARCH button is for. Did you even read the "CIVIC/CRX Forum Rules https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=359086" before you posted anything here? Because if you did you would have had your answer by now, because the answer is CLICK THE SEARCH BUTTON.

Then type in Hydro. There's 3 pages worth of search hits for that.
