I'm at a turning point...DD or race? need opinions/advice
History: I have a turbo neon...been saving parts and money for 3 years to build it. Got it together this last december, ran it on 8psi for 5 months, just recently pushed it up to 27psi. I ran an 11.80@124 with problems...then I scattered my tranny the next pass. I blew up my tranny, diff, radiator, CM stg4, DSS 3 axles, and my flexplate.
This is what I have and what I'm thinking. Either A)repair what broke and get what can be warranteed warranteed(sp?). B) repair what broke, and upgrade parts that can be upgraded (stg 4 clutch to twin disc...stock flexplate to SFi spec flexplate...3.55 tranny to 3.94) etc
And when i fix my tranny...should I take the engine out and install the ported head, cams, and gears? (stock port head, stock cams, stock gears) I have ARP head studs, and I have an extra Cometic headgasket.
I'm defintely going to need the sfi spec plate and a new bov...plus dyno time. The 3.94 tranny is free(already had a spare) but the axles and clutch will need to be repaired/warranteed
My goal this year was an 11.49...I ran a 11.80, and Im not satisfied...the bov it self would allow me to make sufficient power, but I think it would also benefit me to change the cams as well. what do you guys think?
and then there is the option of installing the direct port kit that I have....I could install one jet in the intake pipe with a clutch switch and a hobbs switch...or I could do all four ports and spray a 90 shot until boost comes up(with a hobbs switch of course) I dunno tho.
