Help! Pressed out top motor mount bushing
I pressed out the top driver side motor mount bushing so I can put in the ES inserts.
It looks like there is a metal sleeve still in there. It that something that I'm supposed to press out or cut out with a dremel?

Nevermind. I just read the instructions again and it said to press out the orginal rubber section and the outer steel sleeve.. It does seem to want to press out though and I don't have a steel disk big enough or hard enough to press it out.
.....you need to take a hacksaw or sawsall to that metal ring and cut it out.
and fyi, Energy Suspension doesn't make any of the upper mount inserts.
Prothane, however (which is undoubtedly what you have) does - I suggest you use the RACE disc that is included.
And don't forget that myself and Dr. Pooface have posted much on this topic previously some years ago in the archives.....

Thanks.. I was searching for the posts about the upper mount.
I just tried using my hacksaw, but the blade doesn't seem to be doing crap.. I might have to take a trip to the hardware store.

But won't the car try to shake itself apart with the RACE insert, that's hard like a hockey puck? Or am I wrong here, I have the STREET insert put into mine but have not got it up and running yet so I have no first hand experience. Oh, I have ES and Prothane inserts for all 5 mounts btw.

I have prothane RACE inserts for the uppers and rear, and ES for the lowers.
I have had them since I posted that thread.
No regrets. Street disc = weak sauce.

Prothane rear and upper for me too, guess I could always give it a try with the RACE insert, at least it would be popular with the ladies

Thanks BlackR.
I finally got that damn sleeve off.. Had to use the hacksaw to cut a line up to the mount.. And then I took a screwdriver and pounded away with a hammer to tear the sleeve at the score line. It came off quite easily afterwards..
So.. I finally got it in my car, but haven't done a test ride yet.
One question.. This could've been a stupid thing on my part, but...
Was I supposed to remove the steel sleeve that lines up the inserts when you are assembling it?
I took it out before I put the mount back in the car and realized that I couldn't torque the bolt to spec anymore since there's nothing there.
The steel sleeve was only for assembly, right? I forgot to check if the bolt will fit through it.
