Need help with clutch install
Is there anyone around the Philadelphia area that can help me do my clutch install. I just did my jdm b18c swap and wouldnt you know the clutch is shot. Slips as soon as I put a load on it. Anyhow, I have my garage at house. I dont have air tools but have an air compressor. If I cant get help dealer wants $430, got other price from a shop but I dont trust them. If I go dealer route I am going to use clutch from my gsr (13800 miles). I would rather get a new set up if I dont have to spend money on labor. Have lots of beer for those interested. Nedd to do asap. Please Help!!! TIA
Sorry. I am nowhere near you to help, but I thouught I'd offer a bit of advise. My brother and I did my clutch on my '90 Teg a few months back at his autobody shop. Without a lift, the installation would have been 100 times more difficult (if not impossible). I advise against doing a clutch installation without a lift. If you don't have access to one, you may want to fork over the cash for a local shop to do it. I really doubt a dealership will do a better job than a local shop for the money. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I hope this helped.
It's not that hard. Just buy a service manual and a clutch alighnment tool and your good to go. Do get help, though. The tranny is a little big to lift by yourself. You don't need a lift, just a jack and jackstands. Oh, ya, and a 12 point 10mm socket.

Just trying to offer the advise that having access to a lift makes the project a hell of a lot easier. I would have been swearing a whole lot more if I was leaning over the car and crawling under it just to replace the clutch.
Kinda pisses me off that so many on this board are so antagonistic when someone less mechanically inclined posts something wrong. No complaints though, I've learned quite a bit from this board so far.
i do everything on my car myself, and i can say that a clutch install is pretty tough, but not impossible. but if oyu dont feel confident DONT DO IT, unless you have another car to use. i did my clutch and flywheel and it was a royal pain in the ***. i still wouldnt pay out but thats just me. good luck my man! oh get a helms!!!!!!!! if you do it yourself!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Im somewhat mechanically inclined, but with someone there who knows whats up with this install would be alot more comforting. If I had access to lift I would definately do it. Cralwing around on the floor sucks though. Plus no one to help move tranny kind of makes this very difficult. My wife isnt into helping me with my car. She already thinks Im a smacked *** for all the cash I have into it. Thank god I have another car to drive or Id be totally screewed. JDM B18C swap kicks ***, except for major clutch slippage. Luck of the draw I guess.
Whers the we did todd crew when you need them. NC is same distance from Florida as Pennasylvania, sort of. I have plenty of room for you guys to crash. Help a brother out, Im reaching here. Guess Im pissing away $430 at dealer to use stock parts, instead of buying a kick *** clutch and flywheel set up. Oh well.. thats the way imports go.
Lots of beer for all!
