i'm not familiar with accords really, but i know most have the lighted key area on the steering column, and it comes on when the door opens and goes off either when car is started or i think it goes off after like 15 or 20 seconds.
now my question is, is their a relay or some sort of switch that times the light so it goes off, and how is it wired in to the car to go off when it starts?
any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Depending on the year... it is inegrated into the multiplex control unit. Basically computer controlled (98 and newer) and there is no way to turn it off (you could remove the bulb) or change the time span it is lit. Earlier accords don't have multiplex, but are still controlled by "modules" which are simple computer circuits.
