Front disc brake upgrade question.
I have a 93 ex ,and i am wanting to upgrade to the 10.2" rotor. I know i have to change out the spindle to one that accepts the larger rotor- heres where i need help- i cant seem to find a firm answer on what spindles. I see alot of big brake posts reccomend integra spindles/assemblies, but I have ALSO read that the integra spindles change your steering geometry.I cant figure out if that only applies to EF's , or to EG's as well.
So can anyone confirm that integra spindles will/willnot change suspension geometry on a 93 civic ex? Finding 94-95 eg w/abs spindles is proving to be a chore !

order from fastbrakes that will solve your problem.

it changes your steering cuz you need to realign the car after any major suspension change.
You can do several things to change to a 10.2 rotor.
1. simply change to complete integra spindle with rotors and calipers.
2. get any 96-00 Civic EX/Si front spindles
3. requires more work....put 10.2 rotors onto your 92-95 non ABS spindles WITH ITR/V6 Accord/Legend/Lude VTEC caliper.

All '90+ Civic EXes have 10.3" brakes to begin with.
As far as the knuckles go, '92-95 Civic knuckles are interchangeable with '94-01 Integra knuckles - they are the same as far as geometry goes. It's the '88-91 Civics that have problems with using Integra knuckles.

mine is swapped over to all integra brakes. the front spindle swap just required an alignment, just like any suspension change or suspension upgrade. thats what i'd go with. and its really simple. good luck with your decision and do lots of research.
thanks everyone- i did expect to do an alignment after the upgrade- I just didnt know if the integra spindles were the same or not- but you guys answered my question. Thanks again

NO...
92-95 all come with 9.1inch rotors except ABS.
I know cuz i have worked with all of the models and years...and they come with that dinky caliper with the retarded looking bracket. Its nothing like an integra caliper.
96+ EX come with the 10.2 inch rotor with the nicer looking caliper and bracket.

exactly...thats what i thought too.
i have a 92 VX that had 9.5...swap eveything out put in 93 EX front stuff (knuckle, rotor caliper, etc...)
13" wheels will fit over the 9.5, but not the 10.3...you need a 14" or bigger wheel
so i had to say by-by to my 13" vx wheels.
i believe all integras 94+ have the 10.3 rotor also..same as EX/Si.
what i'm trying to find out is how much different is the EX caliper is compared the the GSR caliper?

The Integra (GSR is not unique, only the Type-R is) caliper has a slightly larger piston than the EX non-ABS caliper, and takes a different pad.
EX w/ABS models have the exact same calipers as an Integra.

Do you know if you can just swap calipers (by the mounting brackets) and have "GSR spec" brakes?

if you already have the bigger rotors yes cuz i have done that already to my car but you need the bigger master cylinder the one off the integra

well come to find out - Im a tool
I have 10.2 rotors on there already. I guess all 92-95 ex's do come with 10.2 rotors, whereas i thought only the 94-95 w/ abs did. I did have reason to believe that though(other than someone here on HT telling me a little while back). I used to have a 95 ex w/abs and those brakes seemed better (pedal feel?) than my current 93 ex w/ 10.2 rotors. A question to you all - did the 94-95 ex w/abs come with a slightly larger caliper?? I'm finding so MUCH conflicting information on this. My current calipers are Nissin Model # 16CL14VN . I THINK Integra calipers (1996 up?) and MAYBE 94-95ex civics w/ abs are #17CL14VN. Autozone's website lists all EX (abs and non abs) civics and Integra(except R) calipers under the same part number though- but that doesnt sound right. Can anyone confirm this? I want to upgrade to an integra caliper if it is slightly larger.

The EX w/ABS has the same calipers as all '94-01 Integras (except Type-R) - same calipers, same pads (D617). "Integra-spec" calipers are indeed stamped 17CL14VN.
The non-ABS EX, however, had a different caliper. It took a different pad (D621) and had a smaller piston than the Integra-spec caliper. The only other car that shared this caliper was the del Sol (not sure which model).
Also, the EX w/ABS had a 15/16" master cylinder, while the non-ABS EX had a 7/8" master cylinder. This would explain the difference in pedal feel.

It is definitely not right, but it is possible that they just give out the Integra-spec calipers for non-ABS cars. A friend of mine tried to buy reman calipers for his non-ABS '95 EX a few months ago at some auto parts store (not sure if it was AutoZone or not) and was given the Integra-spec calipers. He wasn't disappointed though
