Why are you using a sohc dist for your B series??? Using that dist and "modifying" the mounting leg might end up throwing your timing so far out that its not adjustable to within specs.

I've done it before, i used my HF dizzy and chopped a leg off of it to fit my b16, so yea it'll work, and my timing was perfecto!

IMO its so much easier to buy the correct part and know that you arent gonna have any timing/mounting issues after things are installed. You may be able to use the sohc dist after you modify the leg and retime everything. But if you have a B series dist you bolt in on, time it and go. Just my .02.

cutting a leg on a distributor vs. spending $200+ on a new one. Don't see why someone would consider putting it on

Look at it this way, what is he out if it works? He has a dizzy sitting there he isn't going to use. It's way easier to buy a b-series distributor but what is the fun in that?

Ya, just have the rotor pointing at the #1 spark plug wire on the cap when the engines at TDC, this will get you close enough to start the car and time it with a gun.

because there is a difference in making it work and making it right. if honda had meant for that distributor to be on that motor, they would have put it on there to begin with.

he obviously knows that it would be easier to sell it and buy a b-series one. That's not why he's here. He's asking how to make it work or if it won't work period.

bump for real info

Why spend the cash when this works, and u don't have to wait for shipping, if need be. Just use what u got.

why spend the cash??? so you don't have ghetto rigged **** on your car. i can run v-tec with speaker wire to a toggle switch all day long, but it doesn't mean it's right. same thing applies here. but if you wanna have ghetto work on your car that looks like ****.........well that's your business. to ghetto fabbing.

Its been my experience that when you don't use all 3 bolts (esp if you use only 1), that the distributor doesn't sit flush with the head and it wears the bearings in the housing out much faster and leak oil.
