Default What would cause an engine to turn off on its own?

I drive a 95' Honda Passport and the other day i was driving to my gf's and the car just didnt work anymore. The brakes got really stiff and the steering wheel locked up. I didnt even touch the key in the ignition and when i went to hit the gas nothing happened. So i had to force the wheel to the side and pulled of and had to litterally slam on the breaks to get the car to stop. I turned the car off and went to start it back up and it just rolled over a couple of times and then started back up. This has happened a couple of times so if anyone has any info for me please let me kno whats goin on cuze i cant afford to buy another car or pay a bunch of money to get this damn thing fixed. Thanks to anyone for info.

Have you noticed any trends? Like has it happened on only particularly hot days, or rainy days? Or maybe only when running a/c? If you could narrow it down a bit, that might help out.

It sounds like something electrical. Could even be as simple as your battery wire is loose or losing connection somehow.

I know the civics/preludes have an issue with the main relay. After a while the solders loosen up and when it gets hot enough they actually lose connection due to heat expansion, once they cool down they're fine for awhile. I assume passports would use a similar style. The only way I really know to fix it is to replace it.
