Default oil pan gasket

on a 99 prelude, is the oil pan gasket an actual gasket or just a sealer? Thanks for any help.

Make sure you cake the rtv thick too.

Put the sealant on the pan and let it sit for a few hours
and harden up before you reinstall the pan.

I had an oil pan leak and when Honda repaired it, they simpy used "HondaBond". As the rest said it's a sealant.

You can also fabricate a gasket yourself.

I disagree. First, if you put too much on, most of it will just squeeze out on both sides, and it can come off on the inside and plug up the oil pickup. You want just enough to squeeze out when you put it together. I've worked on a H22 where they went nutz with RTV and the pickup was crammed with ribbons of RTV. Also, I think it's better to clean both mating surfaces, apply the honda bond (permatex grey) to the pan, and assemble immediately. I think the instructions on the tube say as much. Good luck...
