Shifter very looose
WHen I put my car in first you can move the shifter like 5 inches either direction. I've been told this is because the bushings in the shift linkage are getting worn. Is this where the problem is? ANy input would be great. About to swap my transmission so if the problem is in the likage i will just get some new bushings and push them in. Thanks!
Buy a shift linkage bushing kit.
You probably only need the bushing under your shifter (looks like a long U shaped thingy)
It doesn't cost too much, and installation is about 30 mins depending if your midpipe is a stuggle to loosen.
Good luck

The easy way to diagnose this would be to
put it on jack-stands>safely and have a friend move
the shifter for you so you can see where the slop is...
